George Reynolds - Trumpeter and Teacher
29 November 2016

I was very sad to hear of the recent death on Friday 11 November 2016 of George Reynolds.
George was a valued member of the LSO Trumpet section from 1963 to 1978 during which time he travelled with the Orchestra all over the world including on the Diamond Jubilee World Tour in 1964.

George was a member of the National Youth Orchestra and studied trumpet and conducting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music. Before joining the LSO, he was a member of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and was also a member of the London Brass Virtuosi. He was Head of the popular Brass Department at the Colchester Institute and was Professor of Trumpet at Homerton College, Cambridge and Anglia University. He founded the Anglia Brass Academy in 1993. He was the Musical Director and Conductor of the Colchester Youth Chamber Orchestra from 1984.

Latterly he devoted most of his time to teaching, freelancing, solo work and conducting. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends and colleagues.
