Then this brass day is for you!


Below is the outline schedule for the Brass Day. It is an opportunity for all young brass players grade 1 - 8 and beyond in the South West Region to participate in an educational day working with some of this country�s top professionals. The day will include all essential elements of being a brass player from warm ups and breathing techniques through to various ensemble work.
All participants will be allocated working groups on playing ability.

12.15pm Warm ups
12.35pm 3 brass groups � Level specific repertoire plus mass play pieces 1.15pm LUNCH
2.00pm 3 brass groups � Level specific repertoire plus mass play pieces 3.30pm BREAK
4.00pm 3 brass groups � Level specific repertoire plus mass play pieces 5.00pm Mass play
5.45pm Concert (Parents/Guardians invited) � 1 piece from each group and the mass play
6.15pm END

- Instrument & accessories eg. mutes
- Music stand (if you have one)
- Pencil Case

Meet the Tutors

Paul Archibald Trumpet
Paul is the former principal trumpet of The Orchestra of The Royal Opera House and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. He is now principal trumpet of Britten Sinfonia and London Mozart Players and an internationally re- nowned concert soloist and recording artist. Paul founded English Brass Academy which provides high quality tuition for brass players of all ages from beginner to professional. The courses offered by the English Brass Academy are centred on the finest tuition by some of the world's leading performers and educators in the brass world.

Roger Argente Trombone
Roger is the bass trombonist for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO). He gave the European premiere of the Brubeck Bass Trombone Concerto with the RPO at the Royal Albert Hall and was invited to perform as a solo- ist at the International Trombone Festival in Helsinki. Roger is equally at home both as a performer and educator. He divides his time between the RPO, the recording studio, teaching and his most recent exciting venture; SUPERBRASS which was recently nominated for the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society�s Education Award.

Paul Denegri Trumpet
Paul is recognised nationally as an outstanding trumpet teacher and brass coach and works regularly with the country�s leading youth ensembles in- cluding, The National Youth Wind Orchestra, The National Children's Or- chestra, The National Youth Wind Ensemble, The IAPS Orchestras, West of England Symphony Orchestra, South West Youth Wind Sinfonia and many of the country�s leading county orchestras.
Paul has been a professor of trumpet for Bristol and Exeter Universities and is now Head of Brass, Jazz and Commercial Music at Wells Cathedral School.

The cost will be �30 per person
(to include refreshments but participants will need to bring pack lunch)
