Trumpet Fanfare Competiton for LMP
30 June 2016

Paul and fellow LMP trumpeter Peter Wright, will be selecting the shortlist for the winner of LMP Fanfare Competition.
All entries will be judged by LMP trumpeters Paul Archibald and Peter Wright. The successful pieces will be recorded and hosted on the LMP website, where members of the public will vote for their favourite.

The London Mozart Players have invited composers (all ages and abilities welcome!) to submit fanfares to be performed at the royal concert ‘Queen & Country’ on Thursday 30th June 2016 at the Fairfield Halls. As well as celebrating HM The Queen’s 90th birthday, this concert will honour the centenary of the Battle of the Somme. A performance of the winning fanfare entry will open the first half of the concert, at which TRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex will be present.

The LMP also gave a few hints to the composers concerning their compositions:

• Entries should be 45 – 90 seconds in duration
• Must be written for two trumpets
• Must include a musical reference to The Last Post.

The composers were also encouraged to think about:

The positioning of the musicians in the performance space
The possible use of mutes
The use of antiphonal phrasing

Watch this space for the announcement of the winner...
