An Evening of Baroque Concertos in Christchurch House, Rode, Somerset
Well done to Andy Court (violin) and his brother Rob (harpsichord) last night for organising a concert of Baroque concertos at the Rode Music Club. The occasion was to celebrate Andy's 60th birthday and it was done in fine style with his ensemble The Christchurch Players performing to a very enthusiastic audience.

The venue was Christchurch House, home to Andrew Hooker who specialises in fine stringed instruments, operating from a converted church rather than a conventional city centre violin shop. Originally Christ Church, it was built in 1824 and largely paid for by Charles Daubeney, who was archdeacon of Sarum.

The programme featured some classic works:
Vivaldi: Concerto Gross in D minor RV565
Torelli: Concerto in D for trumpet and strings
Pachelbel: Canon for 3 violins and continuo
Bach: Concerto for violin and oboe in D minor BWV 1060
Vivaldi: Concerto for 2 Cellos in D minor RV531
Quartz: Concerto Dr Flute in G Major no 161 QV 174
Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No 2 BWV1047

Thanks also to
Andrew Court (director and violin)
Violins: Nicolette Brown, Liz Partridge, Zo Davies, Katy Latham
Viola: Laura Sinnerton
Cellos: Richard May, Martin Bradshaw, Marina Martins
Double Bass: Chris Westcott
Harpsichord: Rob Court
Oboe: David Theodore
Flute: Lianne Barnard
