Educational workshops with Paul Archibald, Benedict
Hoffnung & Scott Bywater
Paul Archibald (left) & Benedict Hoffnung
An important part of Paul's work in education is the trumpet and percussion workshops undertaken with Ben Hoffnung and Scott Bywater. The workshops are designed to encourage children to perform. The music they play accommodates children who are experienced and working towards graded examinations but at the same time includes young people who have yet to learn a musical instrument but would enjoy performing as part of a group activity.
The Flexiband series is a collection of pieces
specifically written by Paul to incorporate all levels of attainment
and allows groupings of any instruments to be included. Transposed parts
are available for children who may play instruments such as clarinet,
saxophone or french horn. Alternatively children can 'create' their
own parts to give a completely unique version of the piece.
Demonstration Recitals
Paul, Ben and Scott offer a programme that gives a thousand
years of world music in an hour! The demonstration recital takes the
listener back 1000 years to the very beginnings of music and, with the
use of musical extracts, show how music developed right through to the
latest chart buster of today!
