The Singapore Brass Explosion! 2011 is an international brass music festival featuring over forty renowned brass musicians. More details concerning this festival can be found at
The festival presented four days of exeptional recitals by world-famous brass musicians and the opportunity for participants to perform and work with these artists. It offered workshops and masterclasses by some of the finest music teachers in the world.
Featured artists included:
Scott Hartman: trombone professor at the Yale University School of Music. Formerly trombonist with the Empire Brass Quintet.
James Gourlay: tubist and conductor, he was formerly Director of the School of Music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama.
David Childs: international euphonium soloist and clinician; multiple winner of UK’s coveted ‘Euphonium Player of the Year’.
Virtuoso Horn Duo: Kerry Turner is a much-in-demand horn soloist and a renowned composer. Kristina Mascher, former Principal Horn of the Flemish Radio Orchestra, has performed in over 30 countries on six continents.
James Morrison: multi-award winning trumpeter and trombonist performed a concert held at the Singapore Polo Club. Considered to be Australia’s finest jazz exponent and one of the world's most versatile and vituosic instrumentalists.
Desford Colliery Band: one of the great British brass bands, this historic band has enjoyed legendary success winning no less that thirty-five championship titles.
During his residency at the Festival, Paul performed the Sonatine by Bohuslav Martinu and Luciano Berio's Sequenza X for trumpet and amplified piano resonance with guest pianist Lauretta Bloomer. He also gave a series of masterclasses and workshops with students attending the Festival.
