Twenty One Studies
based on 24 Preludes and Fugues by Dmitri Shostakovich
Shostakovich's 24 Preludes and Fugues is one of the greatest works for piano written in the 20th Century. In the work, Shostakovich explores the different textures and moods of each† key. Sometimes they are relaxed and languid, sometimes frantic and pressured but sometimes lighthearted and cheeky! The studies within this book reflect all the characteristics of Shostakovich's musical style and present a musical and technical challenge to players of all standards.

Fiesta Espanola
Solos for Trumpet and Piano by Moszkowski and Granados arr P
The spirit of Spanish music was evocatively captured when Moritz Moszkowski wrote his Spanish Dances and Enrique Granados penned Escenas Poeticas for piano solo. This album for trumpet and piano includes some of the best-known dances from Moszkowski's work and shows off the flamboyant nature of the trumpet! It also includes the Berceuse by Granados, a haunting, lyrical movement well suited to the instrument

Twenty-One Lyric Pieces for Trumpet
based on Lyric Pieces by Edvard Grieg
Grieg was greatly inspired by the national folk tradition of Norway and as a result his music soon developed a refined, lyrical style. In 1867 he produced a set of miniature pieces for piano consisting of eight short movements in contrasting moods. Over the course of his life he wrote nine further collections under the same title. The pieces chosen for this book are representative of the beautifully constructed movements in Lyric Pieces and will, hopefully, allow the warm and expressive qualities of the trumpet to be expressed

Suite from Carmen
Bizet arr Paul Archibald
Scored for Trumpet and Piano

None of Bizet's operas ('Les Pecheurs de Perles', 1863; 'La Jolie Fille de Perth', 1867, 'Djamileh', 1872), initially enjoyed great success, but shortly after the premiere of 'Djamileh' Bizet's attention was directed towards the 'Carmen' subject, probably by Camille Du Locle then manager of the Opéra Comique.
Public reaction after the premiere on 3rd March 1875 was cool and the critics' reviews quite devastating. Bizet died at the early age 38 of a heart attack only three months later. On that day, June 3rd 1875, Carmen was given in Paris for the 33rd time to increasing success. Carmen is one of the mainstays of the operatic repertoire and popular with audiences all over the world. According to a survey, the Toreador's Song is the most widely known piece from ANY work of music theatre. This suite consists of Prelude and Chanson Boheme • Choeur des Gamins • Habanera • Entr'acte to Act IV • Seguedille • March of the Toreadors
