As a prolific arranger for English Brass Ensemble, Paul arranged and transcribed many pieces for brass quintet as the ensemble developed its concert performing profile. Dances of Terpsichore by Michael Praetorius, JS Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor and Quartet No 7 in F sharp minor op 108 by Dmitri Shostakovich were all popular works helping to establish the group as a world-class chamber ensemble.    more...

Cecilia McDowall: Three Antiphons
Three Antiphons for trumpet and organ are adaptations of Latin motets for unaccompanied choir, commissioned originally by Janet and Douglas Mackay for the Canterbury Chamber Choir and first performed in Faversham, Kent, in April 2004. Regina Caeli, as a motet, was nominated for the Liturgical section in the British Composer Awards, December, 2005 and was performed by the BBC Singers. The re-scoring for this combination was made for Paul Archibald and Leslie Pearson and first performed at the Yoxford Festival in 2004.
Cecilia McDowall: Framed
This colourful collection of pieces draws its inspirations from a variety of art works, ranging from a gentle Parisian waltz (Renoir's Ball at the Moulin de la Galette), an atmospheric night piece (Whistler's Nocturne in Blue and Gold), a bright dazzling Winter Landscape with Skaters (the Dutch painter Avercamp) to the jazzy cool in five four time of Walking Man (a powerful elongated sculpture of Giacometti)
