Edward Chance: A Time There Was
The traditional melody on which the first and last movements are based is thought to date from the fifteenth century, and deals with a young man's grief over the death of his lover, and a "year and a day" spent mourning at her grave until she tells him to leave her in peace and enjoy life while he has it. The second and third movements are based on an equally ancient melody, Kemp's Jig, used both in its original form and in a triple time version.
Robert Davies: Fanfare
This fanfare was commissioned by Christopher Mowat in 2002 for the Graduation ceremony at the Welsh College of Music & Drama. The fanfare motif is first announced by the trumpets in the opening bars, and then develops across the whole ensemble as the piece progresses
Edward Chance: Differently Setting Susato
There are some composers whose music has an instant, yet lasting, appeal. Among these is Tielman Susato. Susato was an instrumentalist, calligrapher, printer/publisher, a dealer in instruments and also a composer of the Flemish Renaissance school. His dance-like and ceremonial compositions are an obvious choice of music for those making films whose action takes place within this period of history.

Folk melodies and their accompanying lyrics have been passed down through countless generations by aural tradition. The ancient folk music tradition faltered somewhat, certainly in the British Isles, with the advent of the Music Hall but fortunately, many of the old melodies and the history they enshrine have been preserved, both on manuscript and magnetic tape, by collectors who realised their value.
Aidan Massey: Soap Remix
Soap Remix comprises a set of five variations on the theme tune to the BBC soap opera Eastenders: Fanfare and Variation 1, Gymnopédie, Espagnole, Chorale and Fugue. Massey draws on a potpourri of musical styles and well-known works from the classical repertoire in his treatment of the theme. This is a skilfully constructed showpiece for orchestral brass and a guaranteed audience pleaser and an ideal item for youth orchestra brass sections."

J.S. Bach: Three Fugues
These three fugues have been taken from 'The Art of Fugue' that Bach composed between 1749 and 1750. The work represents one of the greatest examples of contrapuntal writing. The three fugues are all based on versions of the same theme. As no instrumentation was specified in either the autograph or the first edition, it seems appropriate to create an edition for trumpets.
